The Philippine Consulate General in Milan and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Paris participated in a forum “Investing and Doing Business in the Philippines in Milan on Monday, 14 May 2018 at the Milan office of ANIMA Confindustria Meccanica Varia.
The forum was co-organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Inc, (ICCPI) and the EU-Philippines Business Network in collaboration with the ANIMA Confindustria Meccanica Varia, European House Ambrossetti and Assocamerestero.
Consul General Irene Susan B. Natividad delivered the opening remarks providing an overview on Philippine-Italian bilateral relations highlighting the Philippines’ economic growth and the context why the Philippines could be the next best investment destination for Italian companies.
Commercial Attaché Pamintuan focused on the economic policies and priorities of the Duterte government, the robust state of the Philippine economy, trade and investment opportunities in the Philippines for Italian companies and the advantages of the Philippines as an investment destination including fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for foreign investors.
Representatives of Italian companies, including, among others, Dolce Italia and Dalai of Olip SpA gave testimonies about their experiences in doing business in the Philippines.
The forum in Milan is the first of three (3) such events organized by ICCPI in Italy this year. A second forum will be held in Rome in July 2018 to be followed by a forum in Padova in November.
Italy boasts a huge number of global brands particularly in the fashion and automotive industry that could take advantage of the sound investment and conducive labor environment in the Philippines to grow their business in the region.
