Milan PCG Participates in Santacruzan in Milan

Personnel of the Philippine Consulate General in Milan (Milan PCG) and the attached agencies led by Consul General Irene Susan B. Natividad were given an opportunity to revisit an important Catholic tradition in the Philippines during the month of May by joining the Santacruzan in Milan on Sunday, 13 May 2018.

Organized by the parish of the Santa Maria del Carmine church, the Santacruzan, which featured some 31 reynas including the famous Reyna Elena, drew hundreds of pious Filipinos who came to join the procession and the celebration of the holy mass. Milan PCG’s contingent consisted of 19 members who donned barong and Filipino outfit for the occasion.

The procession of the reynas in their colorful Filipiniana attire in the streets around the church caught the attention of curious onlookers.

In her brief remarks near the end of the holy mass, Consul General Natividad thanked the organizers for inviting Milan PCG to participate in the event. She added that the Filipino community can count on the Consulate’s support to promote Philippine traditions such as the Santacruzan that not only fulfills the spiritual needs of Filipinos but is also a manifestation of the richness of Philippine culture.
